Resolved Question: I am on atenolol for acute arythmia and my resting heart rate goes down to 35 bpm but a max of still over 180?
I am not sure how serious my condition is all I know is that the doctor told me to stay on atenolol to regulate my heart rate but it seems that I have more extremes. Should I be conserned about it. During hard work I can still feel on occasions that my heart tries to fall back into arythmia. Don’t know what I should do when I am only 29. I don’t know wether it is lower or higher on the heart all I know is that the heart would stop beating for a seconed and then start to beat rapidly up to 200 or over and I can’t breath or stand or do anything but tell my wife to get an ambulance. The heart while beating fast will still try to stop all the time for a seconded or more. The doctor seems to just shrug me of when telling him as though he doesn’t believe me what should I do and what should I be thinking about this all.

Open Question: Recreational Steroid use?
In some places in the world anabolic steroids are legal, and for awhile now I’ve thought more and more about the benefits of taking steroids. I am about 6ft and 280 pounds, and i’ve been going to the gym for about 4 months now and I know plenty of people that have taken steroids and they say the fat literally falls off in weeks, with a lot of muscle mass gained.
I’m aware most people don’t recommend steroid use because of increased risk of heart disease, acne, hair loss, and the shrinkage of your testicles. But taken in moderate use could steroids be beneficial for someone who’s in need of losing a lot of weight? Is it addictive? Is there any permanent damage to my body once I’m off of it?

Open Question: Do most young kids have lots of medical problems or was it just me?
For the 1st 11 yrs. of my life, I had all sorts of medical problems. Heart murmur @ age 2, 2 strokes @ age 5-both were a week apart, eye surgery @ age 5, nose surgery twice, strep throat, scarlet fever, behavior disorder, arthritis, (they even thought I was @ risk for Pervasive Developmental Disorder), & other illnesses. I was sick ALL the time. By 7th grade, I somehow (magically) didn’t have much medical problems, but then I was diagnosed with OCD & Tourette’s. I suffered depression & anxiety all my life. I’m 24, almost 25 now. & I still suffer OCD, TS, depression, & anxiety. Plus, I suffer irritable bowel syndrome & obesity. The cause of the obesity is a side effect of my antidepressants.
I also had a lot of ear infections, & I had my adenoids removed in 1 of the nose surgeries. Yes, it does suck. Poor baby!

Resolved Question: Is it often that a corpse has eyes wide open and mouth open a bit?
I had the tragic and very unfortunate experience of having to see my young adult son in the morgue and was startled to see him with his eyes wide open and mouth slightly ajar. It had been about a day after he died in a mountain bike race of an arythmia or fibrillation of his heart which his cardiologist says was likely caused by an extreme adrenalin rush. They said he died within seconds… just trying to understand if he suffered at all.

Resolved Question: Potassium overdose?
Has anyone ever heard of a person reacting to a pack of blood given in a transfusion and killing someone with potassium.
The explanation given to me was that when the pack of blood was hung and started the red blood cells exploded inside the body and caused the release of potassium. 2 hours after the blood pack was started heart arythmia started. 45min after that they were in full blown cardiac arrest and nothing could be done to save the life. The person was also on dialysis and heprin was being used with that.

Open Question: Chest Pain and Feinting?
So my friend just got back from a primary care physician and complaining about her heart hurting and periodic feinting for about 11 months. The doctor is suggesting a Cardiologist and says when he listens to her heart he heres a “murmur” I’m not to sure what that means so it leaves me with the question…
What types of things could be wrong?
Whats the worst possible thing under these effects?
Whats the best possible outcome of these effects?
Thanks in advance!

Open Question: After a cup of coffee, my heart pounds hard and causes pain..is this okay?
This is my second time of happening after a drink of a simple coffee. It’s mild on caffine too. Is it because my heart is weak on caffine ? or i drank it too fast?
It starts to be painful like somebody’s squeezing it.
Should I go see a doctor?
And is this a sign of a heart disease? :(

Open Question: My mom bought a kitten, found out it has heart problems less than a week later (please read)?
My mom bought a kitten from Petsmart last weekend. He is 2 1/2 months old. She took him to the animal hospital to get his front paws declawed. The vet called her back and said she could not perform the surgery because the kitten had an abnormally high heart rate (around 250 beats per minute) and that he had a very loud murmur. The vet said putting him under could cause him to die and that she should take him to a cardiologist. She said without medicine, the kitten most likely will not live past a year old but that there’s a chance the medicine wont work. Petsmart told my mom she can return the kitten and they’ll take care of him and put him out for adoption again with a known heart condition. I told my mom that Petsmart should be paying for a cardiologist his medicine as she’s had him less than a week, he’s already been neutered so there’s no way they couldn’t have known about the condition as they would have examined him. What should she do? My mom doesn’t want to give him up
