Open Question: First day of school sucked please help!?
I’m a 9th grader and today it sucked big time, we get 30 min. lunch and we can’t get out of campus. We have lock schedule so it’s 4 long misarable periods a day! The teachers are so boring especially in Algebra I was bored and I can’t focus because it’s so boring. Oh and also I can’t see my friends in lunch because it’s A lunch then B lunch so we’re all scattered and seperated.
It freakin sucks and it’s only the 1st day! The worst thing is that this Thursday I have to get my heart checked out by a Cardiologist because of a Murmur, and I’m nervous!
What can I do to make highschool more fun? I already wanna get out.

Open Question: How do I stop worrying so much and become more positive? ?
Hey all, I am hands-down the biggest worrier on the entire planet. I make mountains out of molehills. My first thought is always negative. When I get offered an opportunity, I immediately think worst-case scenario, so if things do go wrong, I won’t be disappointed. I guess I have a fear of disappointment.
I have a fairly negative outlook on our planet, and my heart goes out to those who are starving and dying of incurable disease and I’m thankful for the things I’ve been given, yet, that still doesn’t cure my sorry ass. I know this is incredibly self-destructive and selfish.
I recognize I have a serious problem and I need to stop. I worry, obsess, and get sad and negative about seemingly everything in my life and I need to break out of it before I waste another day. It’s easier said than done, though- how do I start? I want to make a change in my life. Thanks for the advice!

Open Question: I have a question about heart murmurs?
So I have been getting heart murmurs a lot lately. I was just sitting on the couch watching tv and I counted 4 in about 1-2 minutes. Is this something to be concerned about? I am only 24 and healthy…so I don’t want to freak out and run to my doctor complaining of heart issues when nothing is wrong. I have heart murmurs for quite a few years, but I have just been noticing in the last few months that they are increasing, and feeling a little more noticeable than I remember. When I get them I feel a slight shortness of breath, and a fluttering in my heart. Any help would be great! Thanks!

Open Question: Newborn - Concerned about hole in heart?
My beautiful baby boy was born not even a week ago, August 19, 2008. My heart dropped and my eyes filled with tears when the pediatrician told me that my baby had a hole in his heart.
I was asleep, being exhausted from labor and birth when they did the first check up on day one but I believe they said they heard a murmur while listening to his heart. The doctor told my boyfriend he’ll come back the next day to listen again because the murmur could be a blood vessel that haven’t closed yet? I’m not entirely sure what was said because like I said, I was sleeping. =(
Day two, doctor checked to listen for it again and the murmur was still there. He than ordered for a cardiac echo to record the murmur so they can electronically send the results to the children’s hospital.
What’s the cause of this? Is there a reason why this happened? Did I do something wrong? A million questions rush through my head… I’m not sure if it’s irrelevant but my baby’s father’s older brother has down syndrome and throughout this entire pregnancy, I’ve been in fear that my baby will have it too. If my baby had down syndrome, wouldn’t have the doctor tell me if he did or not? Is there a slight chance that my baby may have it?
I’m a bit concerned. Can someone help me answer these questions?

Open Question: Is there any medicine out there that can cause heart disease? Female hormones and Progesterone ?
Megace aka Megestrol Acetate, an appetite stimulant and a female hormone progesterone has caused me to suffer from chest pain, 8 months after discontinuing the medicine. I am a male, so yes, I was consuming female hormones.Could this medicine have caused coronary artery disease or some sort of heart disease? I am on no other medications, I eat a healthy diet, and do some cardio, yet I still continue to have this chest discomfort. It is not heartburn.Thank you

Open Question: I had a very disturbing dream! Can you help me interpret?
Dreams don’t usually bother me, but this one really disturbed me. Please help me interpret the following:
I started out in a doctors office where me and a big group of girls were taught about a rare disease. It had something to do with our period and how if you missed it it could mean your heart wasn’t pumping blood. And you would soon die. Then i vaguely remember having sex. My period was due on Saturday, and school would start that monday. My period didn’t come and people said i was pregnant. but i knew i had the disease. I spent my Saturday saying goodbye to those i loved. I said i wanted to die in my sleep so i fell asleep. I felt a stab of pain as my heart stopped. Then i remember thinking, “So this is what death feels like” and then i woke up, and for a moment i thought i was really dead. It is really disturbing. PLEASE HELP ME!

Open Question: Could a very slight heart murmur stop me completely from joining the national guard?
Well, I went to MEPS August 5th, everything went fine, yeah I need glasses they said, but w/e…
I passed all my test but down to the physical, the doctor listened to my heart and told me I MIGHT have a very slight heart murmur, and I will need to see a cardiologist before I can sign up…
Well before that I have to get a re feral for the cardiologist to see me, I went to get this re feral last monday, I asked that doctor he said hes hears a very very faint sound, which could be nothing.
I have no previous history of heart problems, nor does my family, but I been reading around and alot of people get denied for this reason and like I’m really getting worried about this…
I have alot riding on this, and I have to see the cardiologist on september 23rd, I’m worried they are going to deny me…
Anyone with an opinion or past experience with this problem tell me about it please…

Open Question: Conservatives is this your working class heritage? Does it make you stand tall with pride?
When conservatives have had a choice between tax cuts for the upper 1 % of Americans and the middle class, they have chosen the super rich.
When conservatives have had a choice between tax cuts for the super-rich and funding for the National Institute of Health, which supports the development of cures for cancer, heart disease, and other serious illness, they have cut funding for the NIH.
When conservatives had the choice between tax cuts for the rich and body armor for American troops dying in Iraq, they chose tax cuts.
Every time working people have asked for a rise in the minimum wage, conservatives have opposed it, saying that wealthy businesses can’t afford it–even as they gave huge bonuses to their CEOs.
When Congress proposed a national holiday honoring MLK, conservatives opposed it, calling him a communist of the floor of the US Senate.
When people in wheelchairs, including WWII vets who lost their limbs defending our nation, asked for accessible sidewalks and buildings, conservatives opposed it saying it was too expensive.
When FDR tried to create a safety net for senior citizens, conservatives opposed it, saying we couldn’t afford it, and they have been trying to dismantle Social Security, Medicare, and Medicaid ever since.
When oil profits soared beyond all previous heights and the price of gas had doubled, Conservatives pushed through Congress a taxpayer-financed, multibillion-dollar ‘incentives package’ for oil companies to keep up the good work.
This is just a small sampling of your many gifts to working and middle class America.

Open Question: Does this annoy you?
I see all these questions asking how much you got for back to school shopping, or how much you spent, and all the answers are like 250, 300, 600 or whatever.
If you’re like me and have to spend your own money, does this annoy you? It pisses me off. I’m not even poor. My parents make really good money, but they think I have enough clothes and shouldn’t be spoiled. And I’m not at all, and it annoys me to see so many out there who get money for nothing at all. I love clothes, don’t get me wrong, but just think of what a difference could be made if they all got a job to pay for their own clothes, and parents donated that money to a charity to help in Darfur or for research in heart disease or something.
Sorry for the rant, but does anyone else feel the way I do?

Open Question: Will you comment on my short story?
Behind the red brick house, amidst a land of wheat and grass, in the backyard children chuckled and played until the night would come.
?Dufus is an arseface?, a little girl would laugh, reaching for the skies, clear blue and free of clouds. Her body soared high, for a second or two when she would come looping down. The chains rotated where her little hands held on, creaking a softest moan, under the weight of her tiny body. A boy whom she pointed at, sat three or so metres away, sticky sand up to his knees, his hands caressing the mound of grains in front. All the while he looked at her, with the most intensive stare. His lips would part, his tongue would stick out, coyly. ?Shut up smelly? , Dufus called out from the hole he was in.
The girl had temporarily forgotten her quarrel with her brother, now focusing on reaching higher with each new swing. Golden hair swayed atop her head, like uncut grass in the wind, exposing the air to the aroma of lavender shampoo. Birds chirped a mating melody in the near distance, orchestrating with the constant tune of the swing. When it reached the peak, Dufus heard a silence, interrupted only by the great big oak tree that towered above the old swing to which it was supported ? it?s veiny leaves murmuring a summer tune. Dufus would notice his sister?s glistened lips part wide, forming a sweetest smile as she proceeded down, and so it went?
Dufus saw his sisters white satin skirt flapping merrily, revealing the pale innocent skin. How beautiful she looked. Sitting there he allowed his mind to wonder, up her red flip flops, past her grey socks with little pink hearts imprinted at the side, over her light tanned calves, above her smooth legs. And then just before a breath of air would reveal some more a voice called from the house that brought him back to reality. ?Lunch is on the table?, it yelled out, piercing his ears. It came from the mouth of a mother?s sweaty face. The droplets of clear perspiration streaming past her wrinkled forehead, falling past the tomato sauce stained apron crashing into the faded timber deck. An earthquake rumbled through them, as the mother?s feet strolled across, past the brown fence, her faintly trembling hands reaching into a cold, blue steel letterbox.
Stomping of the children?s feet escalated in the distance. The mother took out a newspaper, her fingers wrapped around the smooth plastic cover, still braced with unevaporated morning dew. She used the nail on her index finger to pierce at the top of the plastic, unrolling the rest with ease. The sound of children?s laughter gained in volume. Hurriedly her eyes thundered to the front page ? revealing what she feared the most. She had no time to read the rest ? the children were almost at the gates. The mother hurried across the sun burned weed and placed the papers face down onto an old small table next to the entrance door. Her children greeted her, first the girl who kissed her on the cheek, then the boy who missed and his lips connected at the side of hers.
They were already at the table, all three. Children sat opposite of her, their now clean hands resting on the vinyl top of the kitchen table. Mother?s hand scooped up some soup from the big iron dish ? pouring it into their shining plates. The boy devoured the warm red liquid, his spoon bashing into the base of the plate ? the scream rang in mother?s ear. She grimaced ? her eyes observed the girl who too drank quickly but much more subdued. She wondered what the children got up to when she didn’t watch. What her son did to make him so hungry. Her mind became confused ? the scenarios all raced through her head. She tried to push the worst aside with all her will and strength. But then she knew she couldn?t, a shot of pain went through her stomach as if a blade had pierced and slit her insides. She saw ? just like last time, that stare, that look, and that brief wry smile on her son’s face. She wished to scream at God for making them both this way, instead she just sat there, with a tear in her eye, with a blank stare. She thought of the gun under her mattress.
It would not happen this time.
Outside the wind picked up. A storm brewed in the skies above ? in the skies who moments before were as clear as morning rain. The newspapers thrashed around on the small table next to the door. The pages jumped up and flew into the air. They flapped about, bashing into the windows, scraping at the bricks of the house. A single page danced more than others ? it plastered itself on the kitchen glass. The three inside could see it clearly. The cover page, in big black letters splattered across the front, had read:
Brother confesses raping his sister ? her body found in the river

Open Question: Get answers from millions of real people.?
my 8 year old son was 25 weeks early he had his PDA repaired at a month. I just found out that my son has a 3/6 systolic heart murmur. Is this something to be worried about. My son use to be very active, and about two years ago he became inactive; he is always tired and has gained weight fast. He does not eat a lot; could it be the heart murmur?

Open Question: Would this deter you from getting your kid a pet?
Kids With Pets Grow Up To Be Snorers: Study
PARIS (AFP) - Thinking of buying a pet for junior? Consider this: children who grow up in the company of cats, dogs or other furry friends are more likely to become snoring adults, according to a new study.
Snoring is no laughing matter. Besides sleep deprivation — for the snorer, and especially for anyone within earshot — snoring is linked to more serious consequences.
It increases the risk of cardiovascular disease, such as heart attacks or a stroke, and can even result in premature death.
Earlier research has shown that a tendency to snore can be established early in life.
To find out why, researchers led by Karl Franklin of University Hospital in Umea, Sweden asked more than 15,500 randomly selected people in Nordic countries about their early childhood, and their snoring habits.
Just over 18 percent of the respondents fit the profile of habitual snorers, defined as “loud and disturbing snoring at least three nights in a week.”
The childhood “risk” factors most associated with this group were exposure to animals, early respiratory or ear infections, and — oddly enough — living in a large family.
Newborns in contact with dogs, they found, were among the most likely to become nocturnal noisemakers when they grew up.
“These factors may enhance inflammatory processes and thereby alter upper airway anatomy early in life, causing an increased susceptibility for adult snoring,” the study conjectured.
The harsh, occasionally nerve-wracking sounds associated with snoring are caused the vibrating of the soft palate.
The study was published in the Britain-based BioMed Central’s journal Resipiratory Research.
