Open Question: ventricular ectopy, German Shepherd sudden death syndrom?
My 8 month old German Shepherd underwent anesthesia while being spayed. An irregular heartbeat was found. After a cardiac work up the following was found:
ventricular ectopy
no sign of structural problems
ventricular arrhythmia
Her heartbeat was found to have a grade II/IV heart murmur, weak and delayed pulses, and an irregular heart rhythm.
Apparently there isn’t a cure and one of the first signs may be sudden death. Does anyone have any info on this?

Open Question: Where have they all gone?
Almost on a weekly basis I read, hear or am told about statistics on all these people dying of one thing or another .
Example:
An average of 114 people die each day in car crashes in the U.S.
More than 20,000 people die from the flu and its complications every year.
There were an estimated 15,517 murders in 2000.
From January 1982 to March 2001, a period of 19.25 years, there were a total of 8,109,000,000 passenger emplacements.
90 people are killed every year in the U.S. by lightning.

And those numbers are mainly yearly and not even world wide. Commercials on TV let us know about thousands upon thousands of people dying of one thing or another and the list of culprits is virtually endless from cancer to heart diseases passing by AIDS and other nasty bugs, not counting the wars and other occupational hazards.
My question is this:
If all those people die yearly, and I would estimate, by extrapolation, to be in the order of at least 50 million worldwide every year since WWII, would you think there wouldn’t be much of us left?
And I do take into consideration all the births since then.

Open Question: I’m 23 weeks pregnant and my doctor said the baby could die within 2-6 weeks. Need advice.?
She has signs of chromosome diseases and 2 signs of heart failure and low amniotic fluid. They said most babies like this die within the first 12 weeks, she has been hanging on for so long. I ask the doctor what to do and she said keep going on with a normal pregnancy. Any hopeful stories would be really helpful, thanks.
I took an amniotic fluid test and it will tell what chromosome disease they tested 6 or 7 different chromosomes and down syndrome was one of them. Their is fluid blockage from the third to the fourth ventricle in the the babies brain causing the first and second to swell. Their is also fluid under the skin of the babies chest which is one major sign of heart failure. I can’t remember the other sign of heart failure that she said the baby had. She is also the size of a 19 week baby even though I am just over 23 weeks.

Open Question: anyone please give me a good adivce on this one… ?
I really need your help, Im 17 years old On last sunday I did poppers(rush), i just did it twice in my life and I will never ever do it again, i wont do any drugs, but since then after finding the info, the syntoms and all that I started to feel nervous, lately having panic attacks but im learning how to deal with them, I regreted so much, that i was crying, I told my mom the truth and she undertands me. I dont know if im exaggerating but these 2 last days I loss my appetite, im worriend and stressed too much. 2 Days after sunday I went to the doctor to get checked, I told her the truth, she checked my heart beat, my pressure, my pulse, and she just told me that im too nervous about that. I didnt get any mental damage, I could think rite better than before because If it was rite now to take that drug I wouldnt do it, are those real syntoms or I should see a psychologist? The rest of my body is alrite, but this got me like traumatized, but these last days im getting better, I joke wit people, I go to school and really pay attention, do homework, but the panic still there, lets make it shorter, my mind is alrite but my nervous aren’t. By the way im not addicted to any drug, that was my first and last drug that I’ll ever take, before taking that drug i didnt have any disease, I was healthy or IDK if im still, and one more thing I’m starting to go to Christian church, and read the bible cuz my family does that, and God is the only one thats there for you, but this wont happen again. If you have had those syntoms that im having now you’re more welcome to answer, same to professionals.

Kyle J. Norton asked:

The electrical system within the heart is responsible for ensuring that the heart beats correctly so that blood can be transported throughout our the body. Any malfunction of the electrical system in the heart malfunction can cause a fast, slow, or irregular heartbeat.

Types of heart disease that affect the electrical system are known as arrhythmias. They can cause the heart to beat too fast, too slow, or irregularly. These types of heart disease include:

1. Sinus tachycardia

Sinus tachycardia occurs when the sinus rhythm is faster than 100 beats per minute therefore it increases myocardial oxygen demand and reduces coronary blood flow, thus precipitating an ischemia heart or valvular disease.

2. Sinus bradycardia

Sinus bradycardia occurs when a decrease of cardiac output results in regular but unusually slow heart beat less than 60 beats per minute. Symptoms of sinus bradycardia includes a feeling of weightlessness of the head, dizziness, low blood pressure, vertigo, and syncope.

3. Atrial fibrillation

Atrial fibrillation is an irregular heart rhythm that starts in the upper parts (atria) of the heart causing irregular beating between the atria and the lower parts (ventricles) of the heart. The lower parts may beat fast and without a regular rhythm. Symptoms of atrial fibrillation include dizziness, light-headedness, shortness of breath, chest pain and irregular heart beat.

4. Atrial flutter

Atrial flutter is an abnormal heart rhythm that occurs in the atria of the heart causing abnormalities and diseases of the heart. Symptoms of atrial flutter includes shortness of breath, chest pains, anxiety and palpitation.

5. Supraventricular tachycardia

Supraventricular tachycardia is described as rapid heart rate originating above the ventricles, or lower chambers of the heart causing a rapid pulse of 140-250 beats per minute. Symptoms of supraventricular tachycardia include palpitations, light-headedness, and chest pains.

6. Paroxysmal supraventricular tachycardia

Paroxysmal supraventricular tachycardia is described as an occasional rapid heart rate. Symptoms can come on suddenly and may go away without treatment. They can last a few minutes or 1-2 days.

7. Ventricular tachycardia

Ventricular tachycardia is described as a fast heart rhythm that originates in one of the ventricles of the heart . This is a potentially life-threatening arrhythmia because it may lead to ventricular fibrillation and/or sudden death. Symptoms of ventricular tachycardia include light headedness, dizziness, fainting, shortness of breath and chest pains.

8.Ventricular fibrillation

Ventricular fibrillation is a condition in which the heart’s electrical activity becomes disordered causing the heart’s lower chambers to contract in a rapid, unsynchronized way resulting in little heart pumps or no blood at all, resulting in death if left untreated after in 5 minutes.

There are many heart diseases affecting electrical system such as premature arterial contractions, wolf parkinson, etc. If you need more information of the above subject, please consult your doctor or visit my home page at:

Open Question: Why should turkeys be our national bird rather than the bald eagle?
i need one more good, adequate reason if you please!
these are the ones i already have…….
(in no order)
10. one of 2 birds can be drawn using outline of your hand. the other is the 3 toed sloth
9. God made their butts so delicious when brimming with hot stuffing
8. ate at the first thanksgiving, after the peace treaty was signed making them a peace symbol
7. they are social, live together, cant survive very well independently, neither can america
6. mainly vegetarians. does grass cure heart disease too?? if we are willing to put undefinable chemicals in our body’s why not something natural? go green
5. it just doesn’t sound right calling your brother a bald eagle, AST that verging on discrimination of old people? calling him a turkey on the other hand… =]
4.they live on the ground while bald eagles liv don’t trees. don’t we need a more down to earth society/government?
3. bald eagles are mostly white with brown and black while turkeys are green, purple, blue, brown, white, red, and black. they represent the different ethnicity’s and how all the different colors (ethnicity’s) can exist in one place.
2. the turkey clucks along with its favorite song while the bald eagle sits tall maintaining its dignity, do we want another micheal east on government or an upbeat, current T.I. government?
ARE THESE CONVINCING?

Open Question: weight loss and exercise tips for the obese?
my friend has gained over 30lbs in the last year. i too have gradually gained weight over time. she and i both are used to being smaller, not small like a size 2 or a 4 but smaller than we are now. we both have tried numerous weight loss and exercise attempts. they will work temporarily but we usually give up or fall behind due to other life obligations (school, work, family, kids etc.) we don’t believe in surgeries nor do we want to try any fad or restrictive diets. is their anyone here who has been obese and lost weight by walking?what are some easy alternatives for someone who is obese to work out and lose weight? i want positive answers from those who’ve actually done it or know someone who has. we are not looking for a easy way out because neither one of us is lazy and we know its not going to be simple but we are looking for safe, cost effective ways for an obese person to lose weight. strenuous workouts would be too dangerous for both of us because of our current weight and the gym is both intimidating and expensive.neither one of us has any real health issues but we are both predisposition to diabetes, high blood pressure, heart disease, and cholesterol due to family history.any positive answers would be greatly appreciated.

Open Question: Medical records-help! Femoral Pulses 2+/4 = B (with a circle around it)?
I’m looking through my son’s medical records. He has an extensive medical history. 2 open heart surgeries, ECMO (bypass, kinda) for a week and a half following one hour of rigorous rescucitation, etc. (There’s a lot more.)
I am trying to figure out what his medical records say from before he was misdiagnosed. There is a section on the “Well child exam” from his 1 month checkup that has the Physical Exam. It states Femoral pulses (I know what that means) but what does the 2+/4 mean? Is that good? Bad? Okay? Also, next to his lungs it says “CTA B (with a circle around it) c (with?) and then something illegible. Looks like gouing, but I can’t figure it out.
If she wrote CTA next to the lungs portion, that means that they should have done a closer exam of his lungs, right?
I’m confused, and don’t know if I should consult a lawyer or not. I appreciate any and all insight anyone can offer. Thank you so much.
BTW-I have met some other parents online with the same diagnosis, and the vast majority were diagnosed at or before birth. He has a very severe, rare heart defect that wasn’t caught until he was 2 months old. He had 6x the normal amount of blood in his lungs because of his heart and he didn’t have his first surgery until he was almost 4 months old. Do you think that by having surgery earlier, it would have prevented his lungs from getting so diseased, thus preventing many complications? Thank you again.
