I have an appt wiith our vet tomorrow to have my dogs heart murmur assessed and I am going to talk to him then but I do not know what exactly to say. My dad retired and while he does not have a lot of money he is putting money away to start an organization and wants to work through our vet to pay for surgeries for pets for ppl who cannot afford the surgery and are considering putting the pet down.
He is going to start a keep the change thing on his ice cream truck he owns and is going to also ask for donations to fund it. Anyone have any ideas? We are not going to advertise what he does since he does not have a lot of money but will have the vet contact us instead when the need arises.
Thanks!

Rich jammes asked:

So if you ask. ‘What is sinus arrhythmia?’ then there are other things too associated with it. However, a sinus arrhythmia certainly does not mean that an individual is suffering from an unwarranted disease, especially no heart disease as such. Many arrhythmias, particularly arrhythmia is found to take place in people who do not have the least symptom or inkling of any heart disease. In most of the cases, even if an arrhythmia is found to exist alongside a heart disease, it is in all likely possibility that the patient will likely die of the heart disease than of the arrhythmia, particularly sinus arrhythmia.

And a word of caution when you say,’ What is sinus arrhythmia?’, that sinus bradycardia is not the same as sinus arrhythmia. The symptoms of both the forms of heart-beat irregularities are divergent and the manifestations are different. Sinus arrhythmia affects the vagus nerve which is responsible for activating the nervous system-triggered parasympathetic input which regulates the heart beat. This systematic failure of the medulla oblongata results in the condition which is termed as sinus arrhythmia. To put it in simple words, the vagus nerve is left unstimulated resulting in the wrong signals to the heart and the subsequent decline in pitch of the heart rate. This is what sinus arrhythmia is.

Cardiac Arrhythmias

Cardiac arrhythmia is a group of conditions in which the electrical activity of the heart is irregular or is faster or slower than normal. Cardiac arrhythmias comprise any abnormality or pertubation in the normal activation sequence of the myocardium. Arrhythmias stem from several causes. The heart’s natural timekeeper—a small mass of special cells called the sinus node—can malfunction and develop an abnormal electrical impulse rate. CPR can prolong the survival of the brain in the lack of a normal pulse, but defibrillation is the intervention which is most likely to restore a more healthy heart rhythm. A slow rhythm, known as bradycardia (less than 60 beats/min), is usually not life threatening, but may cause symptoms. When it causes symptoms implantation of a permanent pacemaker may be needed. Either dysrhythmia requires medical attention to evaluate the risks associated with the arrhythmia. The signs and symptoms of cardiac arrhythmias can range from completely asymptomatic to loss of consciousness or sudden cardiac death.

Causes, Symptoms and Treatment

Complaints such as lightheadedness, dizziness, quivering, shortness of breath, chest discomfort, heart fluttering or pounding, and forceful or painful extra beats are commonly reported with a variety of arrhythmias. Beats are generated by electrical impulses in the atria (top chambers of the heart) and are then conducted to the ventricles, where they produce the powerful muscle contraction that pumps blood. People may have allergies or idiosyncratic reactions to many other foods and beverages that cause transitory arrhythmias.

Treatment for Cardiac Arrhythmias Tips

1. Using a small, battery-powered generator to deliver timed, electrical impulses to the heart muscle through tiny wire leads.

2. The treatment for some patients is a technique called cardiac ablation.

3. Magnetic Guidance in the Heart While transcatheter ablation is very effective, it can be difficult.

4. Stereotaxis Niobe Magnetic Navigation System uses two superconductive magnets, a magnetic-tipped guide wire and advanced computer imaging techniques.

5. Atrial fibrillation can also be treated through a procedure, e.g. pulmonary vein isolation.

Open Question: I think I may have had a seizure. Did I?
Today at school I was just leaning against the table. All if a sudden, I felt this BIG vibration. I didn’t fall down or anything and it only lasted a couple of seconds. I felt it by my stomach. I asked the other kids at my table if they felt it and they looked at me like a crazy person. I have had some heart troubles before (I’ve had a heart murmur) but that was fixed by a catheterization. Was it a seizure? Or was it something else?

Open Question: Tilted uterus complicate birth?
Has anyone had birth complications due to a tilted uterus? I have a heart murmur and been experiencing heart arrhythmia and my doctor told me that I most likely will be needing an epidural and possibly an assisted birth, since pushing may put too much strain on my heart. I wonder if the tilted uterus may complicate my birth plan even more.
Thanks for your answers in advance!

I heard you muggles have recently discover a new disease- Obsessive Cullen Disorder. Young teenage girls are most commonly diagnosed with this retardation. Symptoms include falling in love with a pedophiliac stalking vampire, being brainwashed into actually WISHING you were one of those revolting creatures, contaminating their bedroom walls with posters of Robert Patterson (which are kissed every night), big purple boils and nasty, red rashes. If you are one of the diagnosed, I am terribly sorry- it is too late. You are doomed to a life of I HEART EDWARD CULLEN and big purple boils. There is no cure or antidote.

This is a serious matter.
I am working on finding an antidote- but am second thinking whether or not you insolent vampire lovers deserve my help.

Open Question: Do you know this movie?
I can only remember the plot, nothing else.
So this young girl goes out to sell cookies, because her parents want her out of the house. She meets a poorer man who lives in a trailer and makes money by mowing lawns. He is picked on because he is poor. He was an award winning diver in high school. She won’t leave him alone even though he tells her too since he is 20 something and it seems inappropriate. She pretty much falls in love with him. He has a gunshot scar and she has a scar from heart surgery, she was born with a murmur. She ends up shooting a police officer who tries to arrest him and tells him to run.

Open Question: my mum is overweight, what can i do?
My mum is overweight, has been most of her life but keeps putting on more weight all the time. Im really worried about her because being overweight increases her risk of heart disease and diabetes and all that, and i love her so much that i couldnt stand for her to get a disease from something she could have prevented if she lost some weight. Does anybody know what i can do to help her to lose weight? How do I tell her i think she should lose weight without sounding mean?

CR James asked:

Have you wanted to show your woman that you are “the most amazing guy - ever”, but didn’t know quite how to pull it off? There’s no better time than now to learn what it takes to “blow her mind”. Here are 4 easy ways to accomplish that.

Number One: Cook for her

The best way to romance your woman is to surprise her with a delicious meal for two. Plan it just right so when she comes home from work, she is greeted with a hot meal that resembles something a chef would make, fully equipped with candle light and soft music.

Number Two: Spend quality time with her

Be appreciative that your woman wants to spend more time with you. Make the most of these moments by eliminating all distractions and focusing only on her. This is huge.

During this time, bask in the moment with deep conversations, relaxing music, and laughter. These moments are powerful in creating a lasting relationship. It’s also one of the easiest ways to soften a woman up for “intimacy”.

Number Three: Plan a weekly date night

Offer to plan a ‘date night’ once a week. This day is dedicated only for her. You can plan to go on a real date such as dinner and a movie, to a play, or just hang out at home watching movies and eating popcorn. The options are limitless.

Number Four: Send her love letters

Nothing makes a woman’s heart flutter more than receiving a love note from her special guy. Today’s technology allows writing and sending love letters easy. While you are at work, try sending her an e-card or an email. You can also send her text messages that tell how much you miss her and that you can’t wait for her to come home.

The idea is to show your love on paper. You might be surprised what she writes back.

Open Question: what would be a good critical appreciation of this poem?
It Is not Beauty I Demand
It is not beauty I demand
A crystal brow, the moon’s despair,
Nor the snow’s daughter, a white hand.
Nor mermaid’s yellow pride of hair.
Give me, instead of beauty’s bust,
A tender heart, a loyal mind,
Which with temptation I could trust,
Yet never linked with error find.
One in whose gentle bosom I
Could pour my secret heart of woes,
Like the care-burdened honey-fly
That hides his murmurs in rose.
My earthly comforter! Whose love
So indefeasible might be.
That when my spirit won above
Hers could not stay for sympathy.
