Open Question: Do I have to worry about heart disease?
I’m 19 and recently had a check up and was told that I pretty much couldn’t get much healthier then I am. I have a family history of heart disease and was wondering if I still have to worry about getting it despite how healthy I am.

Open Question: What could a fluttery feeling in my chest mean?
I just got this feeling in my heart kinda just on the left side and idk how to describe it i guess it would be like a butterfly fluttering in my chest and it felt like my heart was bumping up and down and it made me cough and i freaked out. My mom has SVT (Supra Ventricular Tachycardia) and my brother had a heart murmur. If that helps any ? I saw a cardiologist when i was younger and I have Vesa Vegos. I think thats how you spell it. But i diddnt have any triggers that could have set it off just now. So I know that wasnt it. Any help?
Thanks :)

Open Question: what is wrong with me?
so about 1 or 2 months ago i smoked weed for the second time and got high for the first time (im not sure if this has anything to do with my problem but it might) and i slept it off. the day after that i felt fine but after a few hours my eyes started freaking out, i cant exactly remember how i felt but i was dizzy, felt like i was gonna faint, really out of it, kinda seeing doubles of everything, kinda like i was looking through a fish-eye lens, and i only had like half feeling in my hands. after about a week i felt better, but still a little distant you could say, that lasted for about a month and then i freaked out again, only this time my hands didn’t go numb and i had the chills. after a couple of days i got the flue and went to the doctors a few days after that and they said i just had the flue. after a few days i got better from the flue.
that happened like 2 weeks ago. ever since then ive been extremely tired, i don’t have much interest in anything, i feel depressed, i wake up at 5am feeling depressed and cant go back to sleep, im a little dizzy, i feel week, im distant from everyone, i feel like there’s something off about my eye sight, and i feel pretty much like im in an illusion. and every now and then i think i smell weed. also i cant concentrate that well, my heart starts beating fast sometimes, and lately ive been messing up my words a lot.
im really scared and cant help but to think im dieing
so whats wrong with me? do i have lyme disease? or some other problem(s)? is the weed just still in my system? im only 90 pounds so maybe it takes longer for me? could it be from poor diet?
pleaseee help
thanks

Open Question: Can a Heart Murmur be fatal if it doesn’t go away after birth…I’m already 18 and feeling worse than ever!!:(?
I’ve been experiencing strange pains in my chest..sometimes i feel I’m going to die! I also can’t breathe as well, to the point that now i have to sleep with at least a fan in my face, which allows me to breathe throughout the night!I also get too tired quickly. I can’t do much exercise. I also have pains on my left arm, severe pain. I’m quite concerned and I am a bit scared to go to the doctor…I’ve been there before but all they did was to give me pills which didn’t actually help at all…

Open Question: my dog may have cancer?
I have a 6 year old lab (he will be 7 in may) and he used to weigh 105 pounds. They told us he was obese and so we put him on low calorie dog food. He went down to about 95 but over the last few months I’ve noticed he’s been dropping weight left and right and he only eats half as much as he used, some days he wont even eat. I’ve found a few lumps on his ribs and stomach area. We took him in and found out he weighs only 79 pounds but the lumps are just fat deposits. Our vet told us just to put him back on regular dog food instead of his usual low calorie. He still wasn’t eating as much and now he lays around alot (hes always been REALLY lazy tho). Well we took him back to the vet about a week ago and they took blood. When the results came back his liver and kidney enzymes were the highest my vet had ever seen (they should be around 60, his were 475). Our vet suspected cancer and had my dog at the clinic the whole day for x-rays so he could look for tumors. He didn’t find any tumors but his liver and spleen were enlarged. My vet told me that he definitly suspects it is cancer and theres nothing we can do, just make my dog comfortable and spoil him until it “comes time”. Could this be cancer or any other disease? Is there a way I can find out how long he’ll live or atleast an estimate? Is he too young to get cancer?
The saddest part about this is we just lost our other dog a month ago from heart failure, her body pretty much shut down (from old age) and this dog, i bought with my own money when i was 11 and hes my baby, he shouldnt be diagnosed with cancer just a month after losing the dog i grew up with.
please help?

Open Question: what could be the reason for my chest pain?
ok, i have had some pretty constant chest pain for the last 4 months or so. I went to the doctor and my blood pressure was a little high, so they put me on 25 mg of atenolol (sp?) But anyway, they did blood work, a chest xray, and an EKG and everything came back normal except for a 104 blood glucose reading(im not diabetic, did a glucose tolerance test and was normal). So, for a while my chest pain stopped and i stopped worrying about it. However, the doctor got me all worked up over diabetes that i was constantly worried about it and that’s when the chest pain seemed to come back. Could it just be from stress? And if it is, how would i get this verified? I never had chest pain until around sept-october of 2008 and i played hockey up until may of 2008 so i was in good shape. I doubt its heart disease due to me never smoking and being very active up until i graduated last year. Also, i was gonna jog a mile yesterday just to try and get back active and to see if i could get my blood pressure lower, and i ended up not pacing myself and ran 0.6 miles in 3 mins. Needless to say, i was worn out, especially since i hadnt ran in almost a year, but my chest was hurting so bad it got me pretty worried and after 20-30 mins of resting my heart rate was at around 110. Could this just be because i over did it and am completely out of shape? i never had a good cool down either, i kind just walked about 20 yards and went inside and sat down. Any ideas?

Open Question: Possible heart problem… should I be worried?
For the last five or six days I’ve been having this really weird… I don’t know how to describe it really… abnormal heart beat, I guess. It doesn’t hurt. It’s a sort of uncomfortable fluttering feeling. I’ll be fine one moment, and then the next I’ll have several beats in a row where my heart will sort of pound heavily, and I’ll get this weird feeling, again, not really painful, just odd and uncomfortable. I guess the closest I can come to describing it is how I would imagine a severe heart murmur to feel like. I check my pulse whenever it happens, just to see, and it always skips a beat. It happens four or five times a day. This has happened before, within the last six to eight months, but not every day and not this bad. Should I be concerned?

serious form of the disease?
The milder form?
Be completely normal?
Could HC HN x HN HN produce a severely diseased baby?

Open Question: There’s something wrong with my heart?
My GP noticed I have a heart murmur a few weeks ago and sent me for a scan thing. The cardiologist called me today and said I have “Mitral valve prolapse and regurgitation”.
What does that mean? He told me not to worry about it but doctors always say that and I’m starting to freak out a bit. I don’t want to google it in case I get even more scared, but could someone explain to me what it is? All I know is that it’s a congenital defect but I don’t know how serious it is or whatever. I’m going to see the cardiologist next week but it’s a long time to wait =S

Shannon asked:

I was diagnosed with GAD this year, and this summer has been awful. After multiple sessions of therapy i’ve gotten a lot better, but still constantly feel a little anxious. Because of it, my heart/chest area hurts…sometimes I get heart flutters too. Completely random. I told my psychologist and mom (who is a nurse) about it, and they said it’s normal. It’s just so hard for me to accept that when i’m so uncomfortable! I know the only way to get rid of it is to stop worrying..but it’s so hard. Does anybody else feel this way or have suggestions on how to control it? It takes me hours to fall asleep because of it. I’m only sixteen :(
