Voting Question: Swollen lower legs and ankles!?
I woke up this morning lower legs and ankles. I also have what they call “pitting edema”! When I push on my leg/ankle it indents and remains there for awhile. I will give you a quick run through of my health conditions: I have gallstones which is being removed June 24th, I have an enlarged liver, I have pain under left rib that goes up my back side into my shoulder blades sometimes! The pain under my left rib is similar to that of my gallbladder pain but when touched is not sensitive. I am vitamin D deficient as well as very anemic. I have cists in my thyroid, peptic stomach ulcers and dislocating hips! I have heart arythmia and heart palpatations. If you have any idea what may be causing this swelling and edema please let me know. I also have pain in my legs, claves and ankles! The pain is more like a cramping/or pressure pain.
Please note: I had a baby almost 6 months ago, am on a diet due to the gallbladder and liver and I do not drink/smoke or do drugs!

Open Question: Specializing after Nursing?
A friend of mine has been working as a qualified nurse in her home country. Now she is thinking of going abroad and taking the next step in Medicine. What would be a suitable course of study for her as an experienced nurse? I mean is there anything for nurses similar to, say, specializing in heart and cardiovascular diseases or postdoc work for PhD holders?

Open Question: Is there any way to find out how clean your arteries are?
Is a person who is free from heart disease and such meant to have completely clean arteries and is there any way to find out if they are clogged or not?
I’m 18 and I am currently on a medication which may cause an increase in cholesterol levels. I don’t exercise much either nor do I eat junk food all the time. I eat a bowl of oats everyday as part of my breakfast.
Also, is there anything out there which can be taken to “blast” the arteries clean like how drain cleaners work?

Open Question: My 9 year old male chihuahua has a weird white, nipple looking thing on his chest, but…?
it isn’t near his nipples-its more towards his front legs. He is not fixed (never bred-I’m not a byb nor are my parents who are technically his owners) if this matters to the question. Its very small, like a very tiny, smooshy bubble of white fat or something. Its about the size of the little ball at the not-sharp end of a pin! He went to the vet a few months ago for a normal check-up and he had itt then, but I don’t think they noticed it and I completely had a duh moment and forget to ask about it. He’s very healthy and active except for a very slight heart murmur. He’s not overweight or underweight. He’s not a small chihuahua-towards a bigger size chihuahua, but very healthy for his build and age!
I’m just worried about it-what do you think it is? I have sooo much going on in my life right now that I had forgotten the tiny little thing (the spot, not the dog-he’s my baby)!!! If you think I should take him back to the vet Monday morning, I will of course. I wish I had remembered about it whhen they were at the vet and he’s had it for awhile now-maybe a few months or a year!
I’m probably just being paranoid and now I’m rambling! Thanks for any help you can give or guesses!
Its definitely not a tick-I live basically in the woods, surrounded by them, so I’ve seen a million in my life! And he’s on medication for that, so if we find a tick on him thats been there for a few hours and started sucking his blood, its already dead!
And he is very healthy-the heart murmur is his only issue, but it has not been any problem for him what so ever! He’s still very active and happy and the perfect weight. He eats great and is truly a healthy dog! Obviously not breeding quality, but I’m not a byb-er or a breeder of any kind!

Open Question: How to deal with possible hypochondria and no one to talk to?
Ok I won’t go into a life story, lol but I’ve been dealing with this since I can remember. I am 17 and I have a few undiagnosed ‘mental’ problems that I can’t seem to get under control. Even worse, I don’t really have anyone to talk to and I feel myself slowly drifting away from everyone. I’ve been ignoring my ‘friends’. Some of my family members know about my problem but it’s wiped away as a joke. Well, lately, I’ve been stressed about various things, and stress brings out my health anxiety.
I’ve had numerous illnesses in my head… cancer, heart disease, an undiagnosed congenital heart problem, diabetes, ovarian cancer, stomach ulcer, brain tumor, brain cancer, skin cancer, anuerysm, endometriosis, mental illnesses, going deaf, going blind, passing out, and now… I’m having fears of having a seizure. I have convinced myself that I have had a seizure or that one is coming. I had an episode last night that very well felt like one, but when I went to my mom, she yelled at me and brushed me off. This all started when I was diagnosed with scoliosis. Every since then, I’ve been worried about having some nerve or spinal issues (seizures, paralyzation, etc). I’m thinking about this every waking minute.. the only time I have peace is when I sleep. I can’t even concentrate on my work because I think I’m about to have a seizure. And almost as a coincidence, everything is reminding me of seizures now. When I ran to my mom about this, there was a girl on TV passed out from a seizure. A few days ago, I heard that Jeremy Shockey had a seizure. I heard that Gary Coleman had a seizure a few months before he just died. I don’t know if it’s a coincidence, but it’s scary me to death. I literally feel sick typing this..plus I read that stress can cause seizures and I really don’t know what to do with myself :( My hands and feet are sweaty and I feel like throwing up now because of what I just typed. I just feel like a mess :(

Billy Baker asked:

Now we’ve all heard about some actors and actresses being overnight sensations. But the fact is, many of them feel that called an overnight sensation detracts from the many years of hard work they put in to get to the top. Robert Pattinson, however, is the real deal in overnight sensation. He’s quickly become a hit with Twilight.

The Twilight is a box office sensation, raking in over $200 million in northern America during its first few weeks of release. The movie’s popularity is apparent in the fact that it knocked out the James Bond flick “Quantum of Solace” from the coveted number one spot.

Who is Robert Pattinson?

He is a British born actor, model and musician. You can admire both his good looks and his music in this movie. Not only is he drop dead gorgeous as the vampire Edward Cullen, he also sings quite well. Rob Pattinson’s original song “Never Think” is featured in the soundtrack.

Robert Pattinson also starred in Harry Potter and the Goblet of Fire, where he played Cedric Diggory. He plays the famous artist Salvador Dali in the yet to be released Little Ashes.

For his stellar performance as Cedric Diggory in Harry Potter, Times Online dubbed the actor as the “British Star of Tomorrow”. (Well it is only 2008, and some would say that in a vampire calendar 3 years is only a mere tiny window of time.)

Prior to the success of Twilight, Rob Pattinson had been seriously thinking about chucking the acting gig in. However, Robert realized he should take acting more seriously when he thought he may have left it too late in the day.

The Twilight success.

For majority of Twilight readers, Robert Pattinson is Edward Cullen come to life. Robert Pattinson bears more than a passing resemblance to Edward’s description in Stephenie Meyer’s book. Me and my daughter were both amazed at seeing the trailers and posters for Twilight. We thought Robert was perfectly cast for the role.

As every one knows, it’s only a matter of time before fans see the second installment of the Twilight series, New Moon. Production of Twilight is has been for full steam shooting as Edward’s character, like Harry Potter, is frozen in his teen years. The actor needs to complete filming the remaining 3 Twilight stories before he becomes too old to play the role. Robert Pattinson as the drop dead gorgeous Edward Cullen will keep us mere warm blooded mortals coming back for more.

Open Question: Having very bad chest pain and I don’t know why, what do I do?
about a few weeks ago i went to the Emergency Room with really bad chest pain, I woke up at 3am in a cold sweat with extremely bad chest pain, i was short of breath and i thought i was having an asthma attack. My mother drove me to the emergency room and i described my pain to the doctor, I described the pain as kind of tight or pressure on my chest and i felt the pain in my upper shoulders, my jaw (i have no history of cavity or tooth decay or anything like that) and upper abdomen area. The doctor told me immediately that it was acid reflux (which does run in my family), I was given an X-ray of my upper abdomen, weird pinkish gray medical cocktail and a shot and was sent home with a prescription of antacids to help deal with the pain. I filled the prescription and do take the antacids as prescribed but the pain didn’t stop. Over the past few weeks i kept having the chest pain like I did when i went to the emergency room, the pain occurs randomly during the day (or night) regardless if i am taking a walk with my dog or laying down and watching TV. The pain can last all day and will get worse after about an hour or so.
I did do some research and my symptoms point to possibly heart angina, heart disease does run in my family, my 3 year old niece and a few of my cousins have heart disease.
I did talk to my mom about my symptoms and she said acid reflux can make you feel like you are having a heart attack but deep down I know something just isn’t right and chest pressure isn’t something you just ignore but I cant get my mom to listen or side with me and she ends up saying im paranoid when I know something is wrong.
I have no idea what to do, I am 18 so i could go to the emergency room myself but I just lost my job (I got laid off) so I have no money right now but I don’t want to sit and wait around for the pain to get real bad and I end up dropping dead because there was a problem so what should I do?

Open Question: My cholesterol is to high…?
My cholesterol is about 350 and my doctor said i’m showing signs of heart disease. Sad thing is i’m 15. Heart disease runs on my dads side of the family and I really don’t want it (DUH!) I want to lower it so I won’t get it; so what are foods that lower cholesterol and what are foods that I should stay away from.

Open Question: Chest pain on right side?
I have been getting chest pains for a while now on the right side of my chest. It’s level to my heart, but it’s on the wrong side, so I don’t think that’s it, even though I have a heart murmur. But why do I have this? It returns every few weeks or so at night and when it does come back it hurts to breathe and get up.
