Open Question: A Herpetic Dilemma…?
To start off, let me say that my boyfriend has both Hsv-1 and 2. I’m going to assume that they’re each in their proper place, but I’m not even sure if he knows that.
He hasn’t had an outbreak, but he does getting a tingling sensation on his inner thighs, sometimes.
I personally think he should be re-tested, because isn’t their always room for error? He was diagnosed via a blood test.
Assuming he does have it, so far he has been fairly asymptomatic. He tells me all the time that he doesn’t want to hurt me, and it’s obvious that he sees himself as diseased and defective (breaks my heart to see that).
If we were to ever decide to be intimate…what form of prevention would work? I know from research that condoms don’t prevent it, and hell..he used a condom and got it anyway. My main concern would be the inner thigh thing, I guess.
I care very much about him and I don’t intend to let this ruin things nor do I want it to dictate anything.
Oh…Another thing I’m concerned about would be the HSV-1 getting in/around my eyes since it can cause blindness. :[ but that has nothing to do with vanity.
he’s not on valtrex or any antiviral meds, though I have mentioned them to him. To him prevention is abstinence, or so it seems. But, I don’t think that’s the asnwer either.
*Please don’t copy a bunch of crap from wiki telling me what herpes is. I obviously know what it is.*
