Open Question: Asthma and irregular heartbeat?
My 7 year old daughter has asthma and was born with a heart murmur. Lately she has been complaining about pain in her chest and a fast heartbeat. I mean her heart beats so fast and so hard that if she is resting next to you, you can feel every beat strongly. In the past I thought it may have been her asthma and treated it as such. But when I took her to the doctor because it has become more frequent, they hooked her up to the EKG machine and it did find some abnormalities. The doctor says that her left and right ventricles aren’t working together, but I’m not getting anything else until more test are ran. They did send her home with an Holter Monitor, but it was incomplete. Is there something that we should worry about or am I being a worry wort. In the past when she complained of chest pain they would give her a steroid for a asthma and everything was okay. Why is this time different and should this have been an issue for the last seven years.

Research and examples (which support the disease concept) will prove that alcoholism is a disease which can be caused by social and environmental background, as well as genetic predisposing factors.
