My wife and I have been married almost 10 years. We have a son that is 7 years old. I was fixed after he was born. About six months ago we began talking about getting it reversed and trying to have another child and somehow we ended up on the discussion of the test they can do now to show if your baby will have any birth defects/diseases. (And I’m very anti abortion and we have always shared those feelings) She said something to the effect that she would have an abortion if she found out the baby would have a defect. Even if it was just autistic. Now I don’t know if they can even test for that but this broke my heart and I was not able to get passed it. I told her I didn’t not want another child if I had to run the risk of her aborting it for something like autism. Since that conversation I can not look at her the same. Our marriage has be a hard one but I have never felt this distant and put off by her. Well she has insisted we have to go to a marriage counselor or we are getting a divorce. But I know if we go to a counselor it will still end in divorce. What should I do? Just be honest and tell her I just don’t look at her the same and that her HUGE change in her beliefs has thrown me for a loop and I can’t seem to get passed it…….and really don’t know if I want to.
During our early years when having a family and our beliefs on abortion were discussed. She told me that the only way she could half/way understand abortion was in cases of rape. These test they have now weren’t around back then to discuss, but given what she had told me and led me to belive, it wouldn’t have mattered.
And I am not a simple minded person. I have looked and thought about all the difficulties having a child that is not healthy can bring. Although I can never begin to fully grasp it. But that is not the point. I believe when you have a child you are to love it good or bad. And making a decision to end it’s life because of the “difficulties” it might cause me, is just not in my way of thinking.

Open Question: What Causes my Heart Murmur?? =/?
Ok so i have a heart murmur.. i was only diagnosed with it when i was about 14.. but i think i’ve had it since i was born. Sometimes it feels like my heart skips a beat..or stops beating for a sec.. i get really dizzy and a kind of sinking feeling and i have to sit down =/ i’ve been told this is normal.. but i was just wondering if anyone could tell me what could have caused my heart murmur? In simple terms?? =) x
