Open Question: Do I need to burn as many calories as I eat or should I burn more?
I have been excercising and changing eating habits. I have tried to lose weight all sorts of ways and realized that my eating habits and excercising are the only ways I am going to get it off. I am on a diet to eat at least 1000 to 1500 calories per day. I drink water whenever I want something to drink, even though I have urges for Kool-Aid every once in a while :o)
I excercise using the Wii Fit for 30 to 45 min per day and ride the stationary bike and burn about 800 calories when I ride (I usually watch tv while I ride)
My question is, if I eat, lets say 1000 calories per day, and burn 1000 calories per day, is this helping me to lose weight or is it helping me to stay the same since I would be burning whatever I have eaten. If this doesn’t help me, what else will? Should I burn more calories, maybe burn 1100 when I ride, and do more excercies on the Wii Fit. Right now on Wii Fit I do Hula Hoop, Boxing, Step (raised) and jogging. What else do I need to do to lose weight? I know there are no quick fixes, but what can I do that will increase my weight loss? I usually eat a piece of cheese in the morning and drink a cup of water. I excercise for 30 min on Wii Fit, then eat a bowl of cereal (probably not a good idea because my cereal is like Apple Jacks, Frosted Flakes or Fruit Loops…but I don’t like Shredded Wheat or Cheerios) Anyway, at lunch I drink water and eat a peanut butter and jelly sandwich and a piece of grapefruit. At dinner, I eat the veggies and if there is a meat that I like I eat that, last night it was spaghetti. Sorry this is so long but I want to increase my weight loss and also get healthy. I have a heart murmur and I just don’t want any extra strain on my heart. If you can, please advise or help. Thanks
