Open Question: Do you agree or disagree with the views of the Chief Guest? What views would you like to share?
Once a meeting of the handicapped persons was held and a Rich Businessman was invited as a chief guest.
The Blind man said: ?The worst impact for me is that I can never serve as an eyewitness for any case even if it means fighting for someone?s cause of justice.
The Deaf man was helped by a volunteer through hand written messages as to what was his suffering as a deaf person The Deaf man replied: ?The worst impact for me is that I can never get to hear the cry of someone yelling with pain or crying for help.?
The man on the wheel chair said: ?The worst impact in my case is that I can never run to the rescue of any innocent person being beaten up by a bunch of hooligans on the street.?
The man who had just got his both hands amputed due to a skin disease said: ?The worst impact for me is that I can never lend a helping hand to anyone who is about to fall from a cliff or from a certain height above the ground.?
The Dumb man replied through a sign language to the volunteer standing there and this is what he wanted to say: ?The worst impact for me is that I can never speak kind words to sooth the heart of someone in grief.?
As soon as the dumb man had given his opinion, the chief guest stood up to say ?But Friends, I am no better than them despite having my eyes, ears, legs, hands and tongue functioning normally and healthily. Do you know why? Because my self-centeredness makes me handicapped. I have once failed to appear as witnesses despite having seen the culprit with my own eyes. I often turn my back despite hearing the voice of the needy person on the street. I have recently stood like a statue when a girl was being sexually abused right in front of my eyes at a distance nearby me despite having the option to run to her rescue. I had once not given a helping hand to one passenger falling off the train. I often make a mockery of diffident people around me rather than giving good advice to them to boost their morale. Today as I stand before you, I am totally ashamed of myself. Physical handicaps only create trouble for you in the physical sense but Self- Centeredness is a handicap that disables the human being inside you. Thus, those who are Self - Centered rightfully deserve our pity for their deteriorating character. And Handicaps need empathy from us and not sympathy.?
