Periodontal disease is associated with chronic diseases of the heart, kidneys, and liver & even death from systematic failure. (If there is infection in the mouth - blood carries it throughout the body)
Gold caps have been used to fix fractured teeth in pets
Orthodontic braces can be used for dogs to correct bad bites
Labrador retrievers are the breed most likely to develop cavities (not as common as in dogs as humans)
Have you ever had a toothache? Studies have shown that dogs have pain thresholds that are almost identical to ours. Dental disease is the # 1 cause of chronic pain in dogs.
And yes. I do brush my dog’s teeth regularly. Several times a week. In addition to brushing my dogs are on a raw diet and get all the dental benefits that go along with that. I also use a product called petzlife (AMAZING!) to break down any built up tartar (usually in fosters) and to prevent it from coming back
