Open Question: Medical Mystery- Just For Fun?
I think these are really fun so I’ve come up with a fictitious character, we’ll call him Patient A, and he has an illness. You get 5 questions to ask me, but I will give you information in the description.
Twenty-two year old caucasian male is brought into the hospital via ambulance after calling 911 complaining of sever fever, shivering, flu-like symptoms and joint pain. He is brought in with his friend, a twenty-three year old african american female. The friend explains that they returned from a semester-long trip overseas for their International Studies Program around a week ago. They were in several locations including England, France, Spain, China, Vietnam and several sub-Saharan regions.
Other symptoms:
Anemia
After being admitted:
-Nausea
-Extremely lethargic
-General feeling of malaise
-Headaches
Hints:
-Family history of heart disease, breast cancer and diabetes
-No other students on the trip are complaining of other symptoms
-He and the friend he came in with spent the entire trip together
-Was born in Germany and moved to the US several years ago
In order to win, you need:
A diagnosis
A test to confirm
A treatment or cure
Remember: If you have questions I will answer them. But you only get 5 as a team, so make them count.
Perfect job. You got it perfectly. I gave a big hint away with the joint pain and the Sub-Saharan visit.
