Open Question: Having an echocardiagram done on my heart. Advice?
I was recently pretty sick with a severe cold. My symptoms of the cold were; headaches, couch, sore throat, night sweats, teeth chattering chills, and body aches. After going to the doctor I advised her that I have a bad heart murmur that I was born with. I’ve never had any problems with my heart I just always tell my doctor before they listen and start to freak out over it. So anyway… she listened to my heart and got very concerned over it and told me I need to go down and have an echocardiagram done immediately. I went to the imaging place and they only do this particular test on Fridays. Can anyone tell me what they will be looking for in this test? Good things, bad things? I know what is involved in doing the test as far as the gel and how long it takes and such but I want to know what could come of this test? Like I said… what would they be looking for in this test?
I did have a slight fever as well as night sweats. And she did put me on antibiotics also. I am Augmentin 875mg. I was also born with my murmur so I have had it since day one I had a heart. I am really worried about this. In my mind I see it as she wouldnt have ordered an immediate test if she didnt think something was wrong.
