Open Question: Equality to animals: description is long, but doesn’t take more than a few minutes to read - What do you think?
I believe humans are equal with all animals, if not, below them.
Oh, you want reasons? You say God says that humans are, in fact, above animals? I’m a Christian, and I don’t believe that at all. Now, in intellect, maybe. Then again, I’m sure there are some animals out there who are perfectly capable of passing us in the “intelligence rank”.
Anyway, I’m not talking about in intelligence. I’m talking about worth. How are we more important than them? I really can’t think of a reason. Not too long ago, it’s been proven that we are the cause of Global Warming. This is going to cause thousands of species to be extinct. Of both animals AND plants. Species we may actually learn from. Find cures, new foods (and I’m talking about fruits and vegetables, not animals), maybe even something that will show us the way out of Global Warming.
You never know.
And animals shouldn’t be just to eat. Sure, I love chicken and hamburgers! But that’s normal. The chicken and cow population isn’t declining because of that. And anyway, animals eat other animals, right? And aren’t humans just a complicated form of animal? Well, that’s what I think anyway.
And no matter what anyone says, I know for a FACT that animals have feelings and emotions. They have a heart and a brain, they’re just as capable as having emotions as we are. And they can reason to an extent. Maybe if we really put time into teaching them what we know, they can reason just as well as we can. Dolphins, Elephants, Wolves, Dogs, Cats… they’re all very smart. But there are too many people who think animals are inferior to humans to try any of that. It’s a shame. And don’t tell me that Oh, it’s been tried before. I know it has. But there IS research going on right now, as we speak, with the testing of animal intelligence (mainly with dolphins and monkeys). And they’re finding that, slowly but surely, they’re learning everything humans can. We’ve deprived them of that for a long time. But now that people are actually trying, their brains have evolved more and they’re able to somewhat communicate with us. If we learn to communicate, and we teach them what WE know, we could band together to stop all this. Imagine dolphins cleaning up the pollution in ocean waters! Or carnivorous animals becoming herbivores, allowing other species to thrive. Now that’s a perfect world.
A lot of people look at animals as ‘just food’, or means of enjoyment (pets). I know plenty of people who don’t take care of their pets very well. And I think if you’re not going to care for that animal properly, don’t get a pet at all.
I have 2 gerbils, and they’re both as happy as can be. I clean their cage at least once a week, or when it gets smelly. Me and my sister also take them out for exercise and play with them everyday. They get all the love and care needed. And everyone I know sees that.
Animals keep this world in balance, and humans unbalance it. The overall animal population is rapidly declining, and soon there won’t be enough animals to KEEP this world balanced. Humans are causing the “death” of the Earth.
Oh, by the way, I just thought you’d like to know: in all, between 3 and 6 million people around the world die each year. From everything, I mean. The war, heart disease, cancer, natural death, etc. And in U.S. laboratories alone, over 70 million animals die due to animal testing. That’s because of things like make-up. Just take time to think about it, ok?
I don’t believe everything the Bible says. I just believe that their is a loving, caring God out there. And that their was a Jesus Christ. Who did give his life for us. But, for example, the saying in the Bible that I believe says: “Do not lean on your own understanding, but look to God” or something of that nature, I believe is totally bogus. Why would I not use my mind?
I may only be 14 years old, but I do believe I have a great understanding of the world around me. Most obviously greater than that of some people. Go ahead, say how naive I am. I might be wrong. But you may wanna think about all this before you do say anything negative. Who knows? I may be right. What do YOU think?
