Open Question: How do i tell my sister our cat died?
Our cat died last night suddenly. Im still grieving and really upset. My sister is away at college. Us two were the closest to that cat. How should we tell her whats going on? Should we skype her, or should my mom tell her over the phone? Or maybe ask one of her roomates to tell her so she can have a shoulder to cry on? Should i tell her since we were closest to the cat? ( We had no idea he was going to die. We knew it could happen because he had a heart murmur, but he was purring and happy and then he just dropped over and died.) suggestions?

Open Question: What do you think of border collies?
So I’m planning on getting a dog and have done my research on a LOT of different breeds. Although I had my heart set on a few breeds (beagle, malamute, akita) I’ve decided against those because I found that they really didn’t suit me as much as I hoped. Now I found the border collie, which I read all about and I’m very keen on, but I haven’t actually met one before and was hoping to get some feedback from some owners of borders or people who know someone who has one. I already know about hereditary diseases of the breed, personality traits, etc. but what I want to hear is the best and worst experiences you’ve had and also the impression that borders give you.
I also have a few questions I couldn’t find the answer to:
1.Since they’re such an energetic breed did you crate train your border collie pup? If so, how did he respond to it and how many hours should you keep him in the crate when it’s time for him to go to sleep?
2. It says on just about every article about border collies that they are very energetic breeds that need to be exercised daily. I know that border collies have just about endless stamina, but I was hoping someone could tell me how much exercise a day is enough to keep him happy and healthy?
I’ve already spoken to a very well known and experienced breeder so where to adopt the dog isn’t an issue. Just wondering if someone’s able to tell me their opinion on borders?
