Open Question: How do you know it is the right time to put down a pet?
I am really torn on wether or not to put my cat down. She hasn’t eaten in over 2 months, we have been force feeding her, we’ve gone to the vet every week for 2 months since we got her, and we know the vet, as well as the nurses by their firsts names.
At first we just thought that Athena was having problems adjusting to our house, and then she had a cold, but after the first month, we figured out there must be something else wrong. She has a heart murmur, but it isn’t that bad, and the vet said that it is not likely that that is the reason she is not eating, since she is breathing fine, and has no other symptons there.
We don’t have the money to run all the diagnostic tests that the vet wants to run (well over $1,000). We ran the leukemia test, since the vet said that if its that, there is nothing they can do for the cat. It came back negative.
The vet assured us that Athena isn’t in pain, but how she knows that when she doesn;t know whats wrong with her, I don’t know.
We are having issues as to what we plan to do next, since we don’t want to loose our pet, but we don’t want her to suffer, and we don’t have a lot of money.
Any tips or advice would be nice, please :D We’ve tried every type of food at petsmart, both dry and wet, plus the food that the vet offers, as well as the jelly and kitten milk. We’ve also given her bits from our dinners and baby food.
