Open Question: I dont know what to do! Help! My pom…?
I have a 6 month old Pomeranian puppy who has a grade 6 heart murmur and today I believe she had a seizure. Well I’m 99% sure. And I dont know what to do.. Should I put her down? I dont want my baby to be in pain.. The vet said she wouldnt be around to long so I dont need to take her into the vet just for them to say well its cause she has a grade six heart murmur. I just dont want her to suffer and I dont know if she is. She is playing and acting like her normal self again but what happens when it happens again but she doesnt live through it since her heart is so weak in general, then she would have suffered. And I dont want that for her. They said I could get surgery done for her but I dont have 2,000 to 25,000 for open heart surgery. So should I just put her down because I dont think there is much anyone can do? Theres medicine yes but it would only prolong her life and i dont want her to be in pain what should I do? Just seems so unfair shes so young and sweet and I wanted her to make it to her first xmas. Seems like so is loosing her eye sight now. She barks at random things and when she goes to jump on the couch she misses. As of last night she started to loose control of her bladder and she has been coughing because I believe her lungs are filling up with liquid. I know what I should do deep down but I need other peoples opinions and if you have been through something like this and how you got by and what you did. I dont really think its her time and I didnt ever think this day would come but after what I saw she went through today I dont want her to be in pain like that again. I didnt think it would come so soon.

Open Question: Information on cats taking Fortekor?
Our 10yr old cat was recently diagnosed with feline hypertrophic cardiomyopathy, not yet at the stage of heart failure, but fairly advanced in the disease. Our vet consulted with a specialist and prescribed him 2.5mg of Fortekor daily, plus a low dose aspirin every 3 days. He has significantly improved and is actually more spry than he has been in years.
I am just wondering if anyone out there has had experience with a cat on these meds. Our vet told us that ‘every day is a blessing’ at this point but I would like to know about other’s experience with the meds and cat life expectancy once on this regime.
Our guy has been doing really well now for 2 months, save the fact that he is just a little grumpier with our kitten.
Many thanks on advance to all of the animal lovers out there.
