Open Question: I take aspirin for heart disease, causing red blotches on both arms. Any solid evidence to decrease blotches?

My cat is 10 years old. He has a heart murmur, has a thyroid problem but is on medication for it since he was losing weight rapidly all of a sudden. His weight is fine now because of the medication. But he’s now losing his balance for some reason. He’s falling of couches and chairs and meows at us to help him down.
For a few weeks he was staying in one spot away from the family, avoiding interaction with us. Suddenly he wants to hang out with us and he’s acting weird. For example, he’s not allowed on tables and he knows that. But all of a sudden he’ll sit beside my lab top on my desk or sit in the middle of the kitchen table staring at you like nothing is wrong. I don’t know if the medication is affecting him physiologically and physically or if it’s because of old age. His activeness has gone down from 10 to a 1. He’ll only eat, sleep and chill. He doesn’t play anymore and that worries me. My baby is not himself!
What could be wrong? He doesn’t have diabetes. My parents don’t want to spend anymore money on him and will let nature do it’s course but I just want to know what’s going on with him so I can help him through it.
We’ve already taken him to the vet, and he doesn’t know what’s wrong with him. He’s done what he can and wants high $$ for the treatment.
