Open Question: Should I go on Maternity Leave early?
I am 27 weeks pregnant and I have had a really bad pregnancy. I have morning sickness hypermesis gravidarum for the first 18 weeks, then two good weeks and then seven weeks ago, had a rotten cough I was not able to get rid of, doctors told me my asthma had come back so they put me on puffers, the puffers are not helping me with my breathing, so they gave me a blood test and found out that I actually had an infection and started me on a course of antibiotics. Today is my last day of taking this medication and I still feel as though it has not cleared up. On Tuesday I was sent to hospital with breathing complications and heart pulpertations and was told that I might have a murmur on my heart which is common in pregnancy. Given the fact that I have had a rotten time with this pregnancy should i consider leaving work earlier than expected. I was planning on going at 35 weeks, but now I am thinking earlier. What do you think?

Open Question: Lyme Disease not recognized as a disease?
My father-in-law was diagnosed with lyme disease early this year. He has had it for a while now so he is in the later stages where it is affecting his heart. The local CDC basically blew him off and he couldn?t find a doctor to treat him nor would insurance cover treatment if he found someone.
A friend of the family fell ill and her family suspected lyme disease ? the hospital refused to even test for it ? citing legal reasons (something about past patients would be able to sue if they tested now) ? by the way, after transferring her to another hospital, she was diagnosed with lyme disease.
I also just heard from an old buddy from college that had to travel out of state to some shady clinic to get tested for lyme disease.
What is the deal with doctors refusing to test for it, let alone treat it? What legal issues prevent hospitals for testing and diagnosing lyme disease?
