Open Question: My doctor sent me to get an echo done. What does this mean?
All right. Here’s the story. I came to the doctor to check my lungs because I was coughing. She said that my lungs were fine, but she said that she heard a possible heart murmur (no previous family history of anything heart-related). I’m 13 years old. She referred me to a different hospital to get an echo. She said there was no hurry, so if it was done in 2 months, that was fine. When we scheduled the appointment at the cardiologist’s office, they said that they weren’t even doing an echo, just having a few trained doctors listen to my heart. The appointment is in December.
What should I make of all this? I don’t sense any urgency between the doctors, but is something wrong with me? What should I expect at the cardiologist’s?
Thanks in advance!
