Open Question: My Dog has heart problems,?
Okay, this isn’t a question, more like wanting opinions. About a year and a half ago I bought a gorgeous cream female pom/yorkie mix from some people that I got in contact with over Craigslist. They lived about 2 1/2 hours away so we met up half way to exchange the puppy for the money. The original deal was that at 8 weeks they would take her to the vet and I’d pay 400 which would include the first vet visit. I knew about her since she was about 3 weeks old. At about 5 weeks they told me if I’d like I could take her early since she has already started eating on her own, they’d drop the price to 300 but I’d have to take her to the vet my self. Of course, I did that. = ] She was beautiful and very playfull, still is!
Anyway, when I took her to the vet she told me that my dog has a heart murmur, which basically means that while her heart is pumping out blood, theres a part thats supposed to close so no blood gets in and it doesn’t close all the way. She told me on the next visit that it sounded better, almost gone and my puppy would probably be fine. The last time we went to the vet she told me it was back, not very strong but she would advice that in a couple years I took her to get an ultrasound to make sure she’d be fine. I told her I wanted to breed and she told me that that wasn’t a good idea because her heart would be under alot of stress and that its a condition that could and probably would be passed on to her puppies. Along with some knee problems my dog has.
She said that her mother or/and father probably had both those conditions also, and thats what led her to have it. Okay- I WOULD NEVER EVER EVER Give back my babygirl, no matter how hurt she is. But I just find it INHUMANE that these people KNEW their dogs had problems, and KNEW it’d be passed on to their puppies but didnt care and bred them for money anyway!
In total, because of my dogs heart problems, the vet said I could have over 4000 dollars worth of vet bills and medicine over the next 3-5 years. I want to take legal action, NOT for the price I paid for my puppy because like I said, I wouldn’t trade her for the world. But for the vet bills. Except, I don’t know where they live or their phone numbers anymore.
What would you guys do? Or what do you guys think?
