Open Question: My fiance has a heart murmur, Could this be a problem?

June 21st, 2010 | by admin | Open Question: My fiance has a heart murmur, Could this be a problem?
Okay so as I stated before, my fiance is 21 years old and was diagnosed with a heart murmur at birth. It has never really been a problem in the past . The past few nights however he has been waking up in cold sweats, having trouble breathing and talking. he says it feels like I am laying on his chest and he can’t breathe, the thing is I am not even touching him. He also states that he feels palpitations in his ears. He works for a contractor doing electrical work and he hardly gets a full 8 hours of sleep which also may be causing these outbursts. He has a big problem with bottling up stress and anger…I have a feeling that may be another part of the problem. He does not have insurance and cannot afford to go to the hospital…I think he needs to see a cardiologist and get an EKG and an echocardiogram, Is there anything else he can do? Is there a cheaper alternative of health care? Has anyone ever had this feeling before?
I don’t know if this is pertinent information but he is Mexican- American.

Open Question: Parakeets causing lung diseases?
My grandfather was just recently taken the emergency room with some severe lung and heart problems. They managed to take care of him, but the doctors are thinking that the problem he is facing is because he owns two parakeets…
The doctor apparently said that the reason he is having trouble breathing is because he owns two parakeets and their droppings have caused him to have lung problems. After hearing this news, my family is trying to get me to get rid of my own parakeet. I have lived with a parakeet for almost 10 years now and haven’t had any problems… Is there something I’m missing? Do birds cause diseases in humans, and if so, what kind? Also, is there anyway to prevent these diseases? I don’t want to give up my parakeet if I don’t have to…
