Open Question: Sonogram for senior dog’s heart?
My dog is 13 year old Toy breed. He’s got some lumps that vets think are not cancer (without biopsies). Vets recommend that I just observe the lumps as it may not be worth putting him under anesthesia for surgery at this late age. He also has dirty teeth, but I think I can manage by brushing his teeth every day.
However, I’ve been told that he has murmur since about a year ago, but that doesn’t seem to be affecting him that much…. I’m considering sonogram because I’ve been told that they cannot prescribe medicine without testing the heart with sonogram. He has at max about 3 years left in his average life span. Any advice/thoughts in how to care for my friend of long years? Sonogram will expect to run about 300 dollars.

Open Question: Will a Cavalier cross Cocker Spaniel have less risk of hereditary disease than a pedigree Cavalier?
I desperatly want a Cavalier King Charles Spaniel, but i’m aware of all the different health issues with them; such as eye problems, heart valve problems, etc. which are expensive and fatal problems.
However, locally there is someone selling a litter of Cavaliers crossed with Cocker Spaniels.
Would this reduce the risk of the hereditary and congenital diseases?
