Open Question: My cat is very sick, and Im at wits end, help?
My cat hasn’t eaten for 3 weeks, I know this is very bad, you don’t have to tell me that. I’ve been in the vet 4 times. We got my cat from the humane society (she’s 7) and she was taken directly from the humane society to the vet to get “fixed”. We later came to find out that she did not need the surgery, that the vet saw her scar, but opened her up anyways, even knowing that she had a cold. She hasn’t eaten since then.
One week after not eating, we took her in, and they gave her fluids. That did not help, while it boosted her energy level for a few days, she still did not eat. The next week, 5 days later, we went in again, and they gave her antibiotics. 6 days later, we went in again, with no change. They gave her 2 bags of fluids and an antihistamine, Hydroxyzine pill. We’ve been doing that.
Tonight, we gave her her last pill, and she has been weaving for the past 3 days, tonight really bad, she almost can’t walk. Last week, we started forcing a combo of milk and egg down her twice a day, along with water every 2 hours.
(we googled the meds, and learned that it isn’t recomeneded for cats, especially those with heart problems, our cat has a heart murmur. We are kind of upset with the vet, since another side effect of the meds is not eating, we are trying to get her to eat.We understand that there is probably a reason behind that, but yeah)
We don’t know what to do anymore, she’s lost a lot of weight, she doesn’t show any interest in food, the vet can’t do much more then what he already did…what do we do?
Ps we have tried all types of food. The first week after she did not eat, we went to petsmart, and went down the food asiles and grabbed wet food of different varieties, dry food, kitten food, treats, the kitten milk, the jelly that the petsmart vet suggested, anything and everything we thought would be good. We also bought some of the food that the vet was selling that they recomended.
