and sometimes they knock on the back
of eyelids as if they were doors
there?s a war on
and it?s eating your flesh
capsizing phallic fallacies
as if they were oaky canoes
and it?s invisible and it?s painless
one day you might be drafted
but you won?t know it
and strange primordials
will emerge from your liver
in a cleansing rumination
there?s a war on and
it?s brain warfare
and it?s very hush-hush
and it?s self contained
like a ship in a bottle
made of smoking splinters
and on deck intoxication
is a disease that is caught
somewhere in a window
Quetzalcoatl is dancing!
he is a feathery serpent
who speaks Greek and writes
fine calligraphy
and we prayed
and he danced and ate hearts
