Open Question: Waist-hip ratio confusion?

September 16th, 2008 | by admin | Open Question: My westie has a grade 2 heart murmer is it best to be on medication for it?
In April 2007 my westie was diagnosed with a grade 2 heart murmur. He has been on vetmedin since then. Since then he has become very withdrawn and likes to spend a lot of time in his bed although loves going out walks. I’ve noticed that when he doesn’t get his tablets for a few days he is back to his old self and spends more time with us which we would prefer. He also seems to have more energy and doesn’t get tired out on walks. The vet said it is a Grade 2 murmur. I’m not sure whether to keep him on his medication or not. He also takes a half a steroid everyday for his skin and also an evening primrose oil capsule.
I realise that it is best to discuss my vet I just wondered what other people’s experiances where with this kind of treatment. Thanks Ollie I hope you get on okay with your girl
I forgot to say that when I last discussed it with the Vet she felt that he was too old to go for anymore tests to do with his heart and as it was only a Grade 2 it wouldn’t really change anything.
