Open Question: What do you think of my story?
This is just about half of the prologue, but I’d really like some feedback on it. Raindrops splattered onto the treetops, dripping down onto the ground below. The sun had long since disappeared from the sky, and the dreary blue vista was concealed by heavy, grey, cumulus clouds. They seemed to sit stubbornly in front of the moon, blocking even the slightest glow that might have emanated from it. Only the stars could be glimpsed, peeking out from behind the clouds, as if to offer some vestige of hope. However, none of that mattered in the small wood, covered as it was by leaves and buds, growing on branches that reached up into space. Although the trees prevented the worst of the rain, it was still uncomfortably wet and chilly to stand beneath them. And yet three people occupied the wood that night.
One of them, a middle-aged man, was bound and gagged. He had been propped up against a tree and was trying in vain to free himself. Two women stood to the right of him, conversing in low tones.
?The other four are ready for placement when we finish with him,? said one, snapping shut a cell phone, which she had been talking into only a moment before. The women who had spoken was short, with dark blonde hair that just barely managed to brush her shoulders.
?Excellent,? her companion said, turning towards the man with a hungry smile. Her olive green eyes brightened, and she sauntered over to him. The man?s terrified eyes widened, and he attempted to free himself with renewed vigor. The woman made a tsk-ing sound, kneeling down beside her victim and shaking her head. ?I?d stop that if I were you,? she said sweetly, brushing some of the man?s graying hair away from his face. ?My friend Bossz
