Resolved Question: how can i tell if i have a bad heart valve?

Being a new parent I know that we will always worry about our children. I feel very lucky and blessed to have a happy and healthy baby boy. My friend gave birth to a beautiful daughter who had a difficult delivery, a possible heart murmur and was diagnosed with Down’s Syndrome. I know that she has family and community support, but I wonder how I can be part of that support system?
I just don’t want to say the wrong thing or hurt feelings by doting on my child’s milestones.

Open Question: I love Cavalair king charles spaniels, but they don’t live long. How can I get one that will live a long time?
My family and I think they are adorable, but I couldn’t survive seeing my dog die early from a stupid heart disease. I really think scientists should try solving this problem, I feel so bad that they almost always die from diseases and suffer. Almost every Cavalier suffers from heart disease before the age of ten, and if they don’t, it’s VERY rare. I feel like crying, I really don’t think it’s fair for them! I really want one, but I need to find a breeder that takes care of their dogs. I feel kind of scared to be looking for puppies on the internet because of puppy mills, and that would defeat the purpose of getting a healthy Cavalier.
