Open Question: How important is it to have a heart murmur classified?
I have a heart murmur, as do both my brothers, which I have had since birth. It has never been classified and as such I know little about it. I’ve never really considered it to be important, though it was brought up by a dentist once who wanted to charge me double because of it and also I didn’t pass my medical for the army reserve as a result. Should I be worried? When I was in high school I did a lot of exercise, walked over a km to get to school, played in sporting teams a couple of times a week, but when we looked at heart rates in science, I was told I had the heart rate of a middle-aged over-weight person. I tend to get hot and sweaty after minimal exercise. Is it possible that these are symptoms and should I get it checked out? I’m 26 and haven’t really had any issues with it.
